Young, Single, Women with High Incomes Appear Most Likely to Wear Adult Braces

Braces for adults are widely accepted and increasing in popularity for several reasons. More insurance policies are including orthodontic benefits for adults. There are several types of braces to choose from these days, including “invisible” or removable braces. Additionally, many adults want braces to improve their appearance for personal and professional reasons. So, which adults are most likely to wear braces?

Researchers at Marquette University found that adults between the ages of 18 and 30 years most commonly sought orthodontic treatment. Women in that age bracket with higher incomes and who were single had the highest incidence of wearing braces. The researchers state that more studies need to focus on the economic, racial and ethic disparity among users of orthodontic treatment.
